Stannah celebrates newly qualified welding apprentices

Stannah, the British engineering company renowned for its high-quality stairlifts and lifting solutions, has proudly announced the qualification of three skilled welders from its apprenticeship programme.

Charlie Tory, Reece Perry and Ricardo Renou have completed their Level 2 Welding Apprenticeship, marking a significant achievement in both their careers and Stannah’s commitment to investing in skills and supporting the next generation of skilled professionals.

The journey began with an intensive six-month placement at SETA training college in Southampton, where Charlie, Reece and Ricardo built foundational engineering skills essential to their welding training. They then returned to Stannah, where they received hands-on experience alongside experienced welders, further honing their skills within the company’s dedicated teams.

The trio are now fully integrated into their respective teams and working independently – a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Speaking on the importance of apprenticeships, Jon Stannah, Group Managing Director, said, “In our Blueprint, we talk about investing in our people, and there are few better investments than our apprenticeship programmes. The welding skills required to build our products are not easy to find, so it is incredibly satisfying to celebrate Charlie, Reece, and Ricardo’s success in completing their Level 2 Welding Apprenticeship.”

Martin Cannon, Head of Manufacturing Operations, added, “As demand for our products grows, so too does the need for specific skills. This programme has enabled us to support and develop Charlie, Reece, and Ricardo into certified welders, providing career pathways for them and meeting the needs of our business with exceptional talent.”

Matt Smith, a former Stannah welding apprentice himself and now a mentor, expressed his pride in guiding the next generation of welders. “I started my Stannah career nearly 30 years ago as a welding apprentice. It’s a pleasure to now support and mentor new apprentices through their journey. Stannah’s investment in developing skill sets is truly rewarding to see,” he remarked.

With their Level 2 Welding Apprenticeship complete, Charlie, Reece and Ricardo are now prepared to make a lasting impact at Stannah.
