Stannah breaks ground at new factory site
Construction has started at the Andover Business Park, home to Stannah’s new 90,000 sq ft factory that will see Stannah streamline the production of its stairlifts and platform lifts, bringing production under one roof.
Stannah’s Group Managing Director, Jon Stannah and Martin Carter, Shared Services Director met with Matthew Burgin, Managing Director at Stoford, the developers employed to oversee the project, and the Benniman construction team at the new Andover factory site this week for their first planning meeting.
Jon Stannah said, “Our first site meeting was very productive where Stoford continued to demonstrate its expertise in commercial development. We look forward to working with Stoford and Benniman as we see this project to completion.
“This expansion forms part of our wider growth strategy and we are delighted that we have been able to keep production in Andover, helping to support the local economy and community, bringing more jobs to the area.”
The first stage of work will focus on preparing the site for groundwork with the construction of the steel frame due to start at the end of the year. Work is due to be completed in the summer of 2023.
The new factory will be a hugely important milestone for Stannah – established 155 years ago and now run by the fifth generation of the Stannah family – demonstrating its commitment to growth while staying true to its family values.
The factory will allow for the expansion of its production capacity, reducing lead times for customers around the world, and provide a state-of-the-art facility for the manufacturing assembly teams. Furthermore, in line with Stannah’s sustainability objectives, 23,500 sq ft of solar panels will be fitted, saving 203 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
