Honouring National Apprenticeship Week

Stannah has always valued the importance of apprenticeships, both our co-chairmen Brian and Alan Stannah started their journey in the industry as apprentices back in the 1950s. Stannah is honouring once more the National Apprenticeship Week, taking place between the 8 – 14 February all over the country.

The Stannah Group has a variety of apprenticeships across the business, we caught up with a couple of apprentices with office-based roles.

Harvey, recently joined as our Quantity Surveyor Apprentice within the Passenger Lift Division, gaining hands-on experience and learning key elements of the job. Harvey, having grown up in Andover, had members of his family that worked for Stannah in the past, hearing nothing but good things.

He was impressed with the number of products and services the company offers, and the experience of his colleagues surrounding him. As he reveals “I have always enjoyed seeing projects go from the planning phase through to completion, and a results-driven industry such as engineering and construction intrigues me.”

Harvey has completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying, and he’s now working towards an HNC in Quantity Surveying, his ultimate goal being to become a qualified Quantity Surveyor.

On the other hand, Stephanie, a Sales & BD Manager for the Global Upholstery Services (GUS) started her career with the company 12 years ago but is using the apprenticeship route for further development. GUS is a B2B supplier of upholstery services and upholstered pieces and has been part of Stannah Group since 2016. The group is showing how learning can be at any point of a persons’ career to learn and grow.

Stephanie revealed that she is “truly grateful for the opportunities and commitment GUS have provided and I will always be in their debt. I would not be the person I am today, a Sales & Business Development Manager, a parent and a work colleague to some great people, without their support.” Stephanie is now completing the final year of her B2B Sales degree at Middlesex University, following a level 3 NVQ qualification in Business Administration.

Stannah can support you in your career development with relevant training programs and courses. If you’re inspired by Harvey and Stephanie’s stories and wish to join part of our family-owned business, have a look at our careers page for more information
