Andover Young Carers receive a Stannah boost

When youngsters from Andover Young Carers (AYC) took part in a sponsored swim recently they were individually sponsored by Stannah.

The event was organised by the Anton Rotary and Andover Young Carers were one of the charities who benefitted from a hectic day of team swimming.Stannah chose to add funds to the children’s individual sponsorship to encourage them to develop their swimming skills and be safe in the water. AYC Charity Executive, Sarah Affleck, commented:

“We entered a team with three young carers and a support worker (Deirdre). They swam 73 lengths in total between them. They absolutely loved it and could have stayed all day! We also had two management committee members in another team and they completed over 100 lengths between them.

We are most grateful to Stannah and thoroughly agree that being able to swim keeps them safe and fitter too!”

Stannah support Andover Young Carers whenever they can. This independent charity provides support to children and young people who have a caring responsibility, often supporting family members 24/7. In 2012 the charity received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for outstanding contributions made to the local community.
