Earlier this year Stannah celebrated the productionof its 500,000th stairlift with a special visit to its Andover factory from HRH Prince of Wales. This followed Stannah receiving its fourth Queen’s Award for Enterprise, demonstrating how the business has bucked the trend of manufacturing decline through its focus on innovative business solutions to help it expand at home and abroad.

Alex Evans, Editorial Director and Co-chair of Judges of the National Business Awards, said:

“A successful manufacturer and fifth generation family business, Stannah is a global British superbrand operating in more than 50 countries that is achieving very healthy growth through strategic acquisition, geographic expansion and innovation.”

Patrick Stannah, joint managing director of StannahLift Services, said:

“We are thrilled to have been nominated for such an accolade. As an independent family-run business growing steadily at six percent, we are testimony to the health of British manufacturing and to the global potential for British owned and run businesses.

“In the current climate in particular, it is fantastic to have recognition for the contribution that home-grown engineering is making to the future of UK plc.”

Stannah will now go head to head with other finalists in the 3i-sponsored Private Business of the Year category, with the winner announced at a ceremony on 8 November.
