Manchester Memory Walk raises funds for the Alzheimer’s Society
Paul Winstanley from Stannah Lift Services Ltd has just completed the Manchester Memory Walk for the third year running and thanks to the 150% fund-matching from Stannah to mark this year’s 150th anniversary, has managed to raise a total of £425 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Every year thousands of people take part in the Memory Walk across various locations throughout the country to raise crucial funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
This year the Memory Walk in Manchester was held in Heaton Park and those who took part could choose to complete either the one-mile or seven-mile route.
Paul was taking part in the walk along with his wife and members of her family, in memory of his father-in-law Russell who sadly passed away three years ago from the disease.
Since then, each year Paul, his wife and her family have taken part in the Memory Walk to help to fund research that will hopefully one day lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Paul says that they take part each year, “to try and raise awareness as well as hopefully to protect other families from the devastating impact that Alzheimer’s can have on lives.”
It’s just a couple of hours every year and the walk takes place in a lovely park. Every year we’ve taken part, the event has been full of some fantastic people and it’s always a great atmosphere.”
All the money raised from the Memory Walks is used by the Alzheimer’s Society for research, campaigning and providing advice and information and local support services.
