Helen Williams steps forward to raise funds for Cancer Research UK

Helen Williams, Branch Administrator of Stannah Lift Services Ltd has taken a step forwards to help to raise important funds for Cancer Research UK.

Inspired by the combination of wanting to set herself a personal physical goal for 2017 and after hearing about the 10,000 steps per day Cancer Research fundraising initiative on the radio, Helen decided this was the perfect event to get involved with.

With the extra promise by Stannah to fund-match any sponsorship money by 150%, to mark their 150th anniversary; Helen set herself the challenge of taking 10,000 steps everyday throughout the month of June.

Helen chose Cancer Research UK as she has first-hand experience of bowel cancer within her family and she wanted to raise awareness and give something back to the charity who are working to find a cure that will one day completely erase all cancers.

Helen has managed to reach £572 and thanks to the 150 match-funding from Stannah the overall total raised was a massive £1,312.50.

The funds raised will help to support the important research carried out by leading scientists, doctors and nurses that will hopefully lead to a cure for cancer that much sooner.

Helen says that taking on the 10,000 steps per day challenge was tough at first; especially trying to fit this around work, but “completing the challenge feels like a massive achievement both personally and for raising funds for my chosen charity.

I have felt overwhelmed with the huge amount of support I received during this event, not only with donations but with encouragement to fulfil the daily achievement. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me and to Stannah for their generous 150% match-funding which helped to spur me on.”
